We will be staying in Rothenburg, and have two days to spend on the Romantic Road before we go on to Munich.
What towns would you recommend we see in this time, and the time to spend in each?

Dinklesbuhl - one hour. Nordlingen - one hour. I%26#39;m still trying to figure out what is the American fascination with the Romantic Road.

Romantic Road igtself is just a road. The towns are what makes it worthwhile.
I%26#39;d step off the road and go to Schwaebisch Hall, and Ochsenfurt (both close to Rothenburg ob der T). Each would give you a couple of hours wander and sightsee.
Back on the road, Bad Mergentheim has a great town centre and interesting Kurpark- different to other towns on the road. Weikersheim is between Bad M and Rothenburg. Each would give you a couple of hours, again.

I don%26#39;t why you only request seeing towns. There are castles, palaces, monasteries and churches also along the way, whether in a town or not. And I%26#39;d second visiting Schwaebisch Hall ( www.schwaebischhall.de ), the town is very nice, but I consider nextdoor medieval walled fortified Comburg (Grosscomburg) Monastery a must see (in www.schloesser-und-gaerten.de ). And if you go there, why not visit the completely walled small old town of Vellberg ( www.vellberg.de ) nearby, an excellent contrast to those larger walled towns of the Romantic Road and their tourist hordes.
If you would like to stay in a castle from the 1100s try Burg Katzenstein ( www.burgkatzenstein.de ), fairly close to Noerdlingen, and by the excellent Baroque church at the monastery in Neresheim.
And if you%26#39;re close to Ottobeuren ( www.ottobeuren.de ), make sure to visit the monastery church there, crammed full of more beautiful Baroque religious items than can be easily comprehended.

and choose your route to Schwaebisch Hall to go back roads, and you%26#39;ll go to Langenburg. Another gem.
