Hi All,
Please advise. I will be traveling with my family (5 of us Age 17 - 48) in December 2009 to experience a %26quot;Winter Christmas%26quot; - this is my intended itinerary - please comment or advise of possible changes
We will be arriving in Munich at 7am on 23 December - stay in Munich for 23 Dec – Visit Christmas Markets - Munich holds its traditional Christkindl market on Marienplatz. A huge Christmas tree all covered in lights towers over the many stands all aglow with pre-Christmas magic. Advent music is performed every evening at 5:30 p.m. from the balcony of the Town Hall.
24 Dec - Munich-Salzburg** (BAYERN ticket) - explore Salzburg – Hohensalzburg castle, St Peters etc
25 December - Christmas Horse Drawn Sleigh Ride from Salzburg
26 December - Bavarian Mountains and Salt-Mines Tour from Salzburg
27 December – Salzburg morning St Peters and a few other sites in Salzburg– Leave for Garmisch Partenkirchen at 15:00(BAYERN ticket) . (Alternative is to leave early (06:00) and stop at Mittenwald before going to Garmisch Partenkirchen – if we get to see what we want in Salzburg on 24 Dec)
28 December – Garmisch Partenkirchen - ZUGSPITZE ROUND TRIP
29 December – Garmisch Partenkirchen – day set aside to enjoy the snow!! Return to Munich in the evening (BAYERN ticket)
30 December - Royal Castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Day Tour from Munich * would have preferred to do this from Garmisch Partenkirchen but can’t find an organised tour – we have never driven in snow conditions and do not want to chance driving. – relax with a beer at the Hofbrauhaus
31 December - Science Museum - See in the new year at Tollwood Winter Festival
1 January – Dachau – and fly home late night flight. Then off to the coast to relax for a week in the sun!
** Have been to Salzburg before and did Sound of Music Tour

Hi Ratifki77,
Here%26#39;s a link to a company that does tours from Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The link is for the tours they do at Christmas; they go to Neuschwanstein only twice, on 27 Dec and 30 Dec. Looks like it might work for you --
weiss-blau-reisen.de/06_weihnachtsprogramm.p…
Part of their website is in English though this pdf is not. I would not hesitate to contact them in English.
Have fun!

Uh oh, those dates are for 2006. Just e-mail them and ask for the dates in 2009.

For some fun in the snow, consider going to Oberstdorf on 29 December for the ski jumping competition. It%26#39;s easily doable as a day trip from Munich with the Bayern ticket. We went a few years ago and had a fantastic time. We took our kids (14 and 16) to the competition as well and they really enjoyed it.

Thank-you all
