need help please!
i am planning a trip from berlin to vienna for 9 days. I will be stopping at dresden along the way but only have a few hours for it (since I will also be stopping at prague).
is it worth stopping for 6-8 hours in Dresden or do I need to stay overnight? the only reason why i dont want to stay overnight is that it%26#39;ll be the 4th hotel change I will need to do. but at the same time, I also do not want to arrive in prague at night if we only stay in dresden for a few hours. help!
thank you!

9 days are not much for the three cities where you%26#39;ll stay overnight. I wouldn%26#39;t deduct a day from any of those - thus spend the 6 or 8 hours in Dresden and head on to Prague.
You can see a lot in Dresden within 6 or 8 hours, but of course you could spend a week in the area and not run out of things to do. Just concentrate on the main sights - and pick out of those the sights that are of interest for you.
I highly recommend a steamboat ride from the city centre to Pillnitz Palace (1.5 hours one way) to unwind and do a sort of %26quot;city tour%26quot; on the water. Very beautiful. And have a glass of wine on the steamer. Back to downtown by bus #83 - change at Schillerplatz - and tram #12.

hi, notpirvou
I%26#39;ve just done that (arrived in a early train and left at 5pm) and it was perfect.
we strolled from the train station to the Frauenkirche (quick tour to the top, beautiful scenery), then through the old center, passing to the other side, lunch at a biergarten by the riverside and headed to the Pfunds Molkerei. all by foot, then took a tram back to the station. arrived with plenty of time to some coffee and ice cream.
pretty touristy, I guess. but it was quite nice, at the same time.

I would cut a day from Vienna and add it to Dresden. I like Dresden better.
