We will be in Munich all next week. We want to go from Munich to the Neuchwanstein castle then to the Zugspitze mountains then to Innsbruck, Austria stay the night, and then go back to Munich the next day. Any ideas about train deals or any advice? Thanks.

Is that Munich to Neuschwanstein to Garmish-Partenkirken to Innsbruck in one day?
It might be possible but wouldn%26#39;t be enjoyable.
Better to visit Fussen and Neuschwanstein as a daytrip from Munich. Take the train to Fussen and then the bus to the castle.
Then stop off at G-P on your way to Innsbruck.
Go to the German Rail website www.bahn.de and punch in your dates and destinations to get an idea of the travel times and costs. The site has an English language option. Search in the German forum here on TripAdvisor for %26quot;Bavaria ticket%26quot; or %26quot;Lander ticket%26quot; to see if that special offer would be suitable for you. There is also some information on the German Rail website about the %26quot;Lander tickets%26quot;.

%26gt; We want to go from Munich to the Neuchwanstein castle then to the Zugspitze mountains then to Innsbruck
On one day? Not realistic.
DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: Munich
To: Hohenschwangau
To: Zugspitze
To: Innsbruck
For trips inside Bavaria you can use the Bavaria Ticket. EUR 28,00 for 2-5 persons traveling together. This ticket covers all regional trains in Bavaria. Plus nearly all other local public transport. The U-Bahn, trams and buses in Munich. Or the buses from Füssen to Hohenschwangau (for Neuschwanstein castle). Validity
Mo-Fr: from 9am till 3am next day
Sa,Su: from midnight till 3am next day
What you can do:
visit Neuschwanstein Castle
Bus to Vils or Reutte in Austria, from there by train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (albeit through Austria this route is also covered by the Bavaria Ticket). Stay overnight in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Visit the Zugspitze. You can also add the Partnach Gorge. Return to Munich. You%26#39;ll get a small discount for the Zugspitze cogwheel train with a Bavaria Ticket.

Thanks for your help. We are taking your advice, and doing the castle and reutte. We are then going to stay in garmisch-partenkirchen and do the zugpitze the next day. Thanks again. Look out Germany here we come!

Of course, if you drove this would be no problem. Just arrive at Neuschwanstein early from Munich, preferably with reservations for the palace tour (have to pick up the tickets at least an hour before your tour at the ticket office in Hohenschwangau), then just drive the shortest route to Innsbruck which goes very near to Ehrwald and the cable car up the Zugspitze from the Austrian side. Either stay off the autobahn in Austria, or buy a vignette (sticker) for using it, as fines are large if you don%26#39;t have one.
