Hotel near University

I need a hotel near the LMU Munich campus that hopefully will also have a good connection for an early morning flight out the the Munich Airport.

Suggestions appreciated!

This Pension is only one block from LMU, and there are S-Bahn and U-Bahn stops nearby:

The Hotel Hauser (www.hotel-hauser.de) is also located very close to the university.

The Holiday Inn Leopoldstrasse has good public (tram/subway) connections to the Ludwig Maximilan University (my alma mater). Check if the Holiday Inn has a shuttle to the airport.

LMU Munich sounds like a wonderful school. My daughter will be there for a short program this summer and is really looking forward to it.

Yes, the Hol. Inn is very nice,, but much more expensive than the Pension Carolin or Hotel Hauser.. It%26#39;s not as high as the 5-stars, but not cheap. Very good location.

Just a moment - which %26quot;campus%26quot;? If your daughter has anything to do with chemistry, biology etc. she will be based in Großhadern (U6 station Grosshadern). Physics is in Garching on the TU campus (U6 Garching Forschungszentrum). Both places are at the edge of the city, actually at the opposite edges. Humanities, law etc. is in the old university area north of the city center (U3/U6 station Universität)

Thank you for your concern about the location. We have the address that she reports to for her Fellowship to be on the main campus near the hotels others suggested.

As I%26#39;ve been learning more though, I%26#39;m starting to wonder if it will be better for us to stay near the airport that night. My other daughter and I have a 7:15 AM flight the same day my daughter begins her program, so I%26#39;m wondering if it%26#39;s just worth it to arrange a taxi to take her to the university so we can be close the the airport.

Which would be a bigger worry? Two of us trying to get from the university area to the airport at 4:00 AM or having my daughter take a cab to the university from an airport hotel around 9:00 AM?

Stay near the airport, or- although expensive - stay in the hotel in the airport. Your other daughter need not take a taxi. She should take the S-Bahn to th Marienplatz, and from there the U-Bah north to the university.

Thank you. I was wondering it that may be the best way to do things. We can do a trial run of her travel to the university the day before to boost her confidence. I%26#39;m sure there must be plenty of other students doing the same ride from the airport to the campus.
