Years ago, when we first visited France, we were informed that Europeans dressed more formally than Americans and we should, too. We%26#39;re off to Germany next week, for our first trip to mainland Europe in 10 years, and we wonder if this is still true. Are blue jeans, comfortable shoes, and knit shirts appropriate for daily attire? Or should we opt for woven shirts and slacks?

Jeans and knit shirts will work.

You can pretty much wear whatever you want-you%26#39;ll see all varieties of clothing styles when you get there. If you%26#39;re going to a higher end restaurant you%26#39;d probably be best to dress up a bit, but mostly it%26#39;s fairly casual

My experience is casual, but not sloppy. I notice many people have a sense of style even when casual. Me, I love my accessories (scarves, casual jewelry) even when dressed down. In fact I often pick up some interesting and lower priced scarves in Germany to wear on my trip.
