mitte berlin... is trhis good base to do stuff on foot..??

the above address...... is this a good base for a 4 day visit to the most intersting historic etc sites in the city

its an apartment

want to be able to walk most and not use too much public transport

any suggestions for a nice 4 day itineray would be most appreciated

Not really a good idea. Berlin is a huge and widespread city. Of course you can walk from this location to a number of sights, but this will eat up quite some time.

Best is to start with one of the many walking tours.

Mitte is a good district to do lots of the sightseeing on foot BUT that address isn%26#39;t in Mitte! It%26#39;s in West Berlin near Bülow Strasse U-Bahn. No major sights are in easy walking distance so you%26#39;ll be using public transport a lot more than if you were staying in Mitte.

We once stayed in an apartment in Novalisstrasse (booked through www.123berlinzimmer.de) which is not far from Oranienburger Tor and we walked pretty well everywhere except to KaDeWe/Memorial Church/Zoo and to Charlottenburg Palace; and Potsdam of course.

1 on the river spree near to bellevue and rail station they say by the stop where you take the river boat trips??!!!

is this a good idea??

Kurfürstenstrasse around Potsdamer Strasse used to be where a lot of street prostitutes stood. It was renowned as a centre of the %26quot;Strich,%26quot; and even portrayed in novels about the demimonde. I haven%26#39;t been down there for years, so I don%26#39;t know if that%26#39;s still the case.

Bellevue area is also not a great walking area.

Look for somewhere in Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg or around Kurfürstendamm if you like to walk.

Not just prostitutes. Those who know about things like that, said that this is the centre of the she-males in Berlin...
