Vegetarian at Oktoberfest/ in Germany

Are we going to starve? My husband and I are both vegetarian%26#39;s, we do however eat fish. Is this going to be difficult in Germany, particularly at Oktoberfest? Yes pretzels are great, but not a meal. We found being vege in England much easier than in the states, really either places are easy. But in looking at pics posted in Germany I see lots or pork, and other meats.

Just wondering if we should be bringing a bunch of protein bars to fill us up, haha.

Thanks!

I%26#39;ve heard about a vegetarian visiting last Oktoberfest. He is still there, works now as skeleton in the Geisterbahn.

The Tent for you: Fischer Vroni

Another good choice for food.

But also the other tents have a few vegetarian dishes on their menu. Here e.g. the one of the Hofbräu tent:

Thanks for the menu%26#39;s, we have tickets for Hofrau. Looks like cheese and pretzels it is! We both hate mushrooms and onions, the only vege options in that tent. Oh well.

I have seen many more vegetarian meals in Germany than I ever have in Chicago. While I am convinced nothing is dearer to the heart of Germans than pork, there are plenty of vegetarians, too.

I%26#39;m also a vegetarian... I%26#39;ll be at Oktoberfest %26#39;09, and the tour group that we%26#39;re joining told me that one of their tour guides is a vegetarian, and never has a problem finding food. It might be a little tough to find something other than pretzels and cheese in the tents (just like at fairgrounds in the US with corndogs, hotdogs and burgers and stuff) but in the city of Munich it should be fairly easy to find vegetarian meals. Just practice %26quot;is this vegetarian?%26quot; in German... :) They do love their pork...

If you don%26#39;t mind eating a lot of Italian food you%26#39;ll be fine. The Italian restaurants aalways cater fairly well for veggies. Also keep your eye out for any Turkish take outs as they do awesome falafel and cous cous at really cheap prices
