Hey All,
Me and 4 of my friends will be flying into Hamburg en route to Leipzig in mid-June. We will be arriving on the 11th and departing for Leipzig early on the 14th.
We were wondering if anybody could suggest us some things to do for the few days we are there (nightlife, recreational etc)? I did some searches but it%26#39;s hard to get a good idea of things to do without the run of the mill tourist trap kinda things.
We are also looking for a place to stay, preferably safe and cheap. Any recommendations?
Any help or advice you guys could offer would be great ...we cannot wait to land in Germany!

Hi Jonah!
Hamburg is great in summer, you will love it! I moved here from Chicago last year.
A couple things you and your friends should definitely do:
1- rent a bid paddle boat and float thru the canals of the city. this is really fun on a nice day. you can bring a radio, load of the boat with drinks and have a blast. boat rentals are really cheap and there are places everywhere.
2- Night out in the Reeperbahn. If you%26#39;re with all guys, you can even walk down the %26quot;forbidden street%26quot;! i havent yet.. girls are shunned!
3- Schanze neighborhood. Near St. Paul. Kind the young-hippie-ish underground part of town. Lots of cool bars and music. Lively promenade where everywone gathers on nights and weekends
4- if you guys are really active, i would suggest renting bikes also for an afternoon. You will notice in hamburg, everyone rides bikes! It seems there are more bikes than cars sometimes! its a great way to see the city and blend in with the locals
5- Harbour. Go to Bar 21, all the way to the top. Spectacular views.
I just be in town that weekend- feel free to message me and id be happy to show you guys around!

If you like cyvling, you can also make a tour through the outskirts of Hamburg-Bergedorf (the Vierlanden) which are really nice.
