Train to Den Haag from Koln/Bonn airport

Hi,

We are flying into the Koln/Bonn airport and can%26#39;t figure out how we get a train from there to Den Haag. I%26#39;ve visited bahn.de and got this info: Kln Hbf - Den Haag HS

Is the Kln Hbf station in the airport? If not, how do we get to it?

MANY Thanks!

No. Köln Hbf (for Hauptbahnhof) is the main railway station of Cologne (Köln).

DB timetable

From: CGN (for Cologne/Bonn Airport)

To: Den Haag

The German name of the airport station is %26quot;Köln/Bonn Flughafen%26quot;. But you can use the airport code (CGN) as a shortcut.

Abalada,

Thank you for your quick response. I did what you said and I received a schedule from the airport to Den Haag. I guess I%26#39;m a bit confused because the Eurail site says there is no train station at the Cologne/Bonn Airport. What am I missing?

Which Eurail site?

http://www.eurail.com

Eurail is just a marketing organisation for rail passes outside of Europe founded by the (ex-)national railway companies, like e.g. DB (German Rail) or NS (Dutch Railways). And they and their timetables are also the most reliable and up-to-date resources for connections.

The (printed) Eurail timetable and maps are just an excerpt of the most important routes for tourists. By far not complete. The DB timetable knows about 400.000 stops in Europe.

The train station at Cologne/Bonn airport is also pretty new (opened June 2004). Thus it can be that the airport is at some places still listed without any train connection.

The list at the Eurail site lists just the airports with intercontinental flights. There are more airports with a train station, e.g.:

Cologne, Hannover, Dresden, Friedrichshafen, Nuremberg (U-Bahn), Berlin-Tempelhof (U-Bahn), Leipzig/Halle

Thanks Abalada!

You are the best! I thought The Eurail timetable was the Holy Grail! I can now stop beating my head against the wall!

The best timetable I think is Cooks European Timetable (available in book form). The route should be from Koln Hbf (main station)to Den Haag CS (Central Station) rather than to Den Haag (Hollands Spoor), which is the main line to Amsterdam and Brussels and outside the city centre.

It is, just as the Eurail thing, just a compilation of most touristically important routes. The best (most complete) timetables are still the official ones from the national railway organisations.

... the complete printed timetable for Germany is however not really handy for a traveller. Only if one plans to travel just with the timetable but without any further luggage ;-)

But if one needs something to fill a bookshelf cheaply - the %26quot;Kursbuch%26quot; comes in 8 volumes, a railroad map and a train list volume. And this for just EUR 13.

There a no direct trains from Den Haag to Cologne. One can take it from Amsterdam or Utrecht. Look on the NS website for the timetable as simple as that!

I need to go from CGN airport to Utrecht in the afternoon hours after 13:50h. When I have a train to utrecht and is it the same train that goes to Den Haag?
