As of 10 May, the World Health Organization (WHO) is reporting a total of 4379 cases, with 49 deaths. This reflects a 1.1% mortality rate -- which is far better than the mortality rate for the flus that break out annually around the world. (think of it that 98.9% of people recover from this one!)

Out of 6 billion people on the face of the earth, this means you have an excellent chance of not even being exposed to the virus, and an even lower chance of actually catching it.

The WHO is also advising AGAINST any travel restrictions.

Read the daily updates at www.who.int -- and carry on with your journey.

we are also planning to travel to Germany from India at May end along with a 12 yr old. we have had doubts since the last few days since all bookings had already been done.

but looking at the overall scenario and taking precautions and medicines along, we have thought of going ahead.

As Sunshine817 already wrote, the swine flu seems to be less dangerous than seasonal flu epidemies that break out every 2-3 years without making people worry too much.
