Hot tip for Int'l Cell Phone Service Verizon Customers

I had asked in an earlier post about using my Verizon phone in Europe. I was told correctly that I can%26#39;t use it.

However My brother told me about a great Verizon program called the Global Travel Program. If you have Verizon you can you can borrow an international phone programed with your own phone number for 21 days (maybe longer-it must be back to them w/in 30 days) The only cost is shipping it to you $9.99 plus the per call rate ($1.29/minute for most of Europe or text 50 cents to send 5 cent to receive). For $5 you can by a month package to reduce the call cost by 30%. This will work for me and I thought others might like to know about it.

To get the program go to

…vzw.com/international/…content or call 800-771-8300.

PS My brother told me it%26#39;s important to tell folks at home to only call in an emergency so you don%26#39;t get hit will calls about nothing! If the call goes through to voice mail you get changed.

I have had Verizon for several years, and I did know about this. I did not mention it in the other posting - as these rates are high. Renting a phone there would be much less.

Thanks for your feedback. Since I%26#39;m starting in Lithuania and leaving from Germany I didn%26#39;t think renting there would work. I expect I only need a phone for rare calls so this will be OK for me.
