I need a room near the central train station.
What are some suggestions of what to do in such a brief stop in Munich?

If the weather is good wander around the historic town centre, maybe get a view of the Alps and olympic park from the church with the 2 towers (cant miss it), have a wander in the Englischer Garten and take in some beer and Schweinshaxn, pop in to Hofbrauhaus for a view then leave quickly as its full of tourists and go to an Augustiner or Lowenbrau brew house... Try the Viktualienmarkt if you want to try Leberkas or the white sausages with sweet mustard,., Do ya see the common thread here? Combine sightseeing with Munich beer and Bavarian food and ya cant go wrong. Prost!

well you get umpah umpah music in the hofbrauhaus... :) and its great if you like being surrounded by drunk college kids having their first few large glasses of beer... if you like more sedate and more authentic you can ask your hotel for a %26#39;whats on%26#39; guide... i dont know where to get the english language guides other than from a hotel... unless you speak german?
