We are staying in Munich for three nights and then would like to move onto somewhere in a closer location to Neschwanstein, Innsbruck and Garmisch.
Would any one be able to recommend a pretty town with easy access to both of these places for day trips?
Was thinking Hohenschwangau or Oberammergau....
Please Help!

Well, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is centrally located for the three. If you want to use the train and public transportation to access these places, use the www.bahn.de website and change it to English near the top of the page, and then play with your options. Note that the Fuessen/Hohenschwangau/Neuschwanstein area isn%26#39;t connected directly by train to these other places. By car, you should have no problems.

Thanks for your response....I have just realized that the trains are all indirect and it looks like it would take hours to get around if we stayed in the area...
Do you think it would be better to stay in Munich and make the day trips from there as the trains are all direct from Munich??
It%26#39;s just that we would like to spend time outside of the city and enjoy a bit of the countryside...maybe we should stay in Munich and just have one overnight visit in the Neschwanstein area?
What do you think?
Thanks again!

I think that there are buses between Fuessen and Garmisch, if so, the train schedule should also show them. They probably aren%26#39;t too frequent.
I think that staying in Hohenschwangau is an excellent idea, preferably in a hotel that has a close-up view of lit-up by night Neuschwanstein. The excellent small hotel Villa Jaegerhaus is one place I highly recommend, just click on my name for my review, and another reviewer has taken some nice photos.
If all you want to do is be in the German Alps, then also consider Mittenwald or Berchtesgaden. The latter is close to the lovely Koenigssee on which you can take scenic boat trips. I%26#39;m sure that you%26#39;d be happy in both these places or in G-P or Hohenschwangau. (Don%26#39;t worry about what you%26#39;re missing, you can%26#39;t see it all, but enjoy what you are seeing.)
