Itinerary Help - Vienna - Salzburg - Munich

Hello All,

We are planing to fly down for memorial day weekend.

Day 1

We will be arriving in Munich on Friday May 22nd 9-50am.

Take the train directly to Vienna (Spend a Night in Vienna).

Day2

Spend the next day in Vienna.

Day3

Take the train to Salzburg, Put our luggage in Locker, Look around Salzburg, Take the train to Munich.

Day4

Spend the day in Munich

Day5

Fly back to Chicago.

Is this doable or am I crazy.

You are crazy.

Crazy. Spend first day and night in Munich, next day also, leave around 4pm for Salzburg, evening in S%26#39;burg next day in Salzburg. Head back via Chiemsee or Berchtesgaden.

Vienna is beautiful..I think you will have to choose between Salzburg and Vienna. Which one do you really want to see the most?

I still think a long weekend to Europe is nuts, period. The jet lag alone will affect your trip. If you are bent on doing this, stay in one place instead of doing fly bys.

There are enough sights within Munich to spend at least 3 days. Take one day trip outside the city and that wraps it up.

Seems to be a quorum that your proposed itinerary is, shall we say, less than ideal. Since you are landing in Munich, my opinion is that you should stay there the entire time. There is more than enough to do in Munich to keep you happy for 7 - 10 days, let alone 3. Why would you want to spend so many hours on trains and all the hassle of relocating, packing and unpacking, etc. when you have such a short time in the area? Not to even mention the jet lag problem. While Vienna and Salzburg have their charms, in my experience Munich beats them hand down.
