First trip to Germany, and it%26#39;s short: 9 days, of which some have to be in Gottingen. Need advice on the practicality and other ideas for the following itinerary: arrive Hannover noon Saturday, see Gardens in the afternoon. Take train to Gottingen Saturday evening. 3 days in Gottingen, perhaps taking side excursions. Wednesday mid day taking train to Berlin. Wednesday-Friday in Berlin. Train to Hamburg. Saturday in Hamburg. Flight home Sunday. Is this practical? Does anyone have any suggestions? What should I see in Berlin in 2 1/2 days, and any recommendations of a safe, central, reasonably priced place to stay? thank you.

Yes, I think you itenary is reasonable. Goettingen is really nice. And as you are there for three days I would in any case make a day trip to the Harz mountains:
