Drive or river cruise

We will be staying in Beilstein for 1 night in June. What should we see in the town, should we take a drive or cruise an hour on the river? We will be seeing the Burg Eltz early in the day. Thanks.

Beilstein is a small village right by the Mosel and it gets quite popular with boat trips coming out from Cochem. Its a very quaint little place and has lots of places to sample the local wine. Have a look on the wine list for the tasters, these are small glasses of wine and it gives you chance to try something that you might have never tried.

I have just checked and Beilstein is 14 Km from Cochem so i would drive there as a must and its also on the way to Burg Eltz. My favourite is to drive from Cochem to Berkastel Kuess, the road follows the river as it winds through all the vinyards.

Beilstein does have a web site www.beilstein.de but its only in German. Have a look at the Cochem site

Just a shame that you have only one day.....

I submitted a review a couple of years back which I have copied below:

This wine cellar is located on the Mosel in Beilstein which is a wonderful old town with a strong Jewish history. The Lipmann family seem to have a strong presence here, the wine cellar is Lipmanns and I also noticed a couple of restaurants with the same name and I am guessing the same family own the whole lot. Its a lovely little town to spend a couple of hours exploring and then to come and enjoy some great wine, perhaps with a cheese platter, in this lovely old wine cellar. It is about 30 minutes from Koblenz and I say you would need a car to get out and about here. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Thanks to all for your input. We will actually be staying at the Haus Lippman on the Mosel, will check out the wine. I have read that the restaurant at the Haus Lippman is also excellent. All your ideas will help me decide. Thanks again.
