I%26#39;m traveling alone by train from Salzburg to catch a plane in Munich. I%26#39;m trying to decide which train to catch because the airline tells me to be there hours early (going to the US) I don%26#39;t want to get up real early, catch a 5:00 train to get to Munich at 7:30 when my flight doesn%26#39;t leave till 12:30 pm, HOWEVER, the next train gets there at 9:30 am and I think I might be cutting close.
My question is this. %26quot;Is the train station really at the airport, where I can easily get off a train and go catch my flight, or do I have to take a cab, trolley, something to get to the airport and may be stressed for time.
I%26#39;ve done something like this before and didn%26#39;t expect a 40 person line in front of me, road blocks, traffic etc and barely made it to the plane when I left in plenty of time.

Which station exactly? The airport station (Muenchen Flughafen) is in the lower level of the airport building. The main station (Muenchen HBf) is of course NOT at the airport but in the city.
If your plane departs at 12:30 I don´t see any reason to be at the airport before 9:30, even to the USA.

For travel from Salzburg to the Munich airport on Monday-Saturday, you could take EuroCity EC train 390 which departs the Salzburg Hbf at 07:53 and arrives at the Munich Ost station at 09:24 on Gleis [track] 6.
You would then take the S-Bahn around the east side of the city to the airport. S-8 departs from Munich Ost station Gleis 5 at 09:47 and arrives at the airport at 10:17.
At the airport you would take the escalator up one level and follow the signs to a airline check in desk.

The airline will always say 2 or 3 hours early, etc. As a general rule with the MUC and most other modernized airports (even post- 9/11),,, If you walk-in the front door of the airport 90 mins before you flight is to depart.. You can make it no worries. However, the trains station is just across from the airport term. It%26#39;s about a 4 to 6 min walk.
