Will be traveling to to Rothenburg via train from munich and will need to purchase %26quot;Bayern%26quot; discount travel tickets for the round trip journey. My question is can I buy the round trip tickets in advance before leaving Munich or can I purchase my return ticket at the station in Rothenburg? Seems like the station is really small there and I want to make sure I will be able to purchase the discount tickets and not have to pay full fare. Any info appreciated as always!

Size of the station doesn´t matter - all ticketing computers are tied to the same central database. You can get exactly the same range of tickets from a ticket machine in a tiny village as in Munich main station.
Is it a day trip? Then you need only one Bayern Ticket.

altamiro,
I will not be traveling on ths same day, so will need to purchase 2 Bayern tickets. Sounds like I will be able to get the ticket at the station in Rothenburg on my return. Thanks for you advise.

If you know in advance which day you will return, you may purchase both tickets in Munich. Just get the dates right for each ticket on the ticket machine, which should be one of the DB ticket machines that takes credit cards and has an English interface.

The DB ticket machines are the same. If in Munich or in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
There is DB agency in the Rothenburg station
TUI TravelStar, travel agency Thürauf OHG
where you can buy the Bavaria Ticket.
If you buy the ticket there or at a DB counter in Munich it%26#39;s EUR 2,00 more expensive compared to from a ticket machine.
