Hi All!
Would really appreciate any advice. We will be in Baden Baden and planning to visit Friedrichsbad on a tuesday since its the only day we can. We also want to try Caracalla on monday evening. Is there a difference?
Never been in a Roman bath before so not sure if it will be embarrasing or its easy to overcome it?
Also the soap brush, is it worth it? people say it might hurt.
is it a male attendant to male person and female to female on a mix day?
thanks

There%26#39;s a big difference. Caracalla is my favourite but both are extremely pleasant. In Caracalla there are a few pools of different temperatures with 1 main indoor one and 2 outside. They have waterfalls and currents in the pools. There are places to sit in the sun or just to lounge around in inside, plus a good size sauna area upstairs with a couple of outside cabins and 5 or 6 other inside.
Friedrichsbad is a bit more regimented and victorian in ethos. There is a set route to follow through the different areas and although no-one makes you follow this it wouldn%26#39;t make sense not to, unless you like a particular bit and want to spend more time there. The massage doesn%26#39;t hurt and is quite short (10 minutes or so I think). I haven%26#39;t been on a Tuesday but I think it%26#39;s separated up to the massage section on those days so it will be male attendant for males etc (although not 100% sure). It doesn%26#39;t really matter though as it is not at all embarrassing. Just don%26#39;t fall asleep in the blankets though, or you might go over time and have to pay extra!
